Hope I haven’t kept you waiting for too long.
So I was thinking about what I should talk about in my next blog post and decided to do one on what scriptures have to say about our worship and what God designed our voice to be used for.
These are 10 of my favourite Psalms that speak of true worship which for me is what I want to base my songwriting on.
- Psalms 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy and with song I praise him.
- Psalms 40:3
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.
- Psalms 42:8
By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
- Psalms 57:7
My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.
- Psalms 68:4
Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds ; rejoice before him—his name is the LORD.
- Psalms 71:23
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.
- Psalms 95:1
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
- Psalms 98:1-7
Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn— shout for joy before the LORD, the King. Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.
- Psalms 135:3
Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.
- Psalms 150 1-5
Praise the LORD.Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
